I am a Clinical Psychologist, Somatic Experiencing Practitioner, and the owner of Singer Psychology Group. I work with adults, adolescents and children. I love helping people understand how they are a combination of their individual experiences and the environments they grew up in. I encourage people to become curious about themselves and how the patterns and behaviors from the past are held in their nervous systems and continue to come up in the present. While my work is grounded in psychodynamic theory, I combine a body based approach. I believe that the most profound changes come from a whole body experience, shifts in our thoughts, beliefs, behaviors, sense of self, our bodies and nervous system. Because the work of therapy must make sense to the person I am working with, I collaborate to create an individualized integrated, embodied approach from my extensive training. I combine and use: attachment, interpersonal, CBT, EMDR, and Somatic experiencing modalities. Our childhood experiences shape who we are, how we relate to the world, ourselves and others. These experiences form our sense of self and others, and our understanding of ourselves in the world. We can get stuck in the sense of ourselves from the past and not be able to move into the present. We know that every person has the ability to change, grow and heal from past experiences and trauma. When we understand, respect, and have compassion for ourselves and are able to make room for all our feelings, thoughts, and behaviors, we are free and unburdened to love others and be available to them in ways that we have not yet experienced.
