Introduction

I’m a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor, and I care deeply about helping people feel better in their day-to-day lives. In therapy, my goal is to offer a warm, comfortable, nonjudgmental space where you can feel supported, while also thoughtfully addressing patterns or challenges that may be getting in your way. My approach is collaborative and respectful, with an emphasis on helping you move toward the life you want in a realistic, sustainable way. I became a therapist because I believe strongly in the value of therapy that actually helps. I find a lot of meaning from working alongside someone as they realize they are capable of handling things that once felt overwhelming. I feel genuinely honored when people trust me with personal parts of their lives, and I take that responsibility seriously. I earned my Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Marquette University, with a specialization in Addictions Counseling. Since then, I’ve worked in a variety of mental health settings and with people from many different backgrounds. This includes children, teens, and adults, as well as individuals navigating substance use challenges, housing instability, immigration-related stress, reentry after incarceration, and the pressures of college life. My clinical experience includes work with depression, anxiety, trauma, substance use, childhood and adolescent abuse, men’s issues, questions of identity and belonging, and much more. I have particular experience working with Latino individuals. I have provided therapy in Spanish in the past and am happy to incorporate Spanish into sessions when needed, though my current practice is primarily English-based. Of course, I’m more than just a therapist, and knowing a little about me can help make therapy feel more comfortable and human, rather than like you’re talking to a stranger. Outside of work, I live in the Chicagoland area with my family. I’m married to an incredible neuroscientist, we have a young daughter who keeps us busy, and two cats who add their own chaos to the mix. I am also involved in local government as an Alderman in the city where I live. When I get a little free time, I enjoy playing video games, camping, editing film, and generally having more hobbies than time. At the heart of my work is a commitment to helping you feel heard, understood, and supported. I believe therapy should be practical and collaborative, so that you leave sessions with insights and tools you can actually use. To me, mental health is just as important as physical health, whether it’s routine maintenance, addressing specific concerns, or ongoing support, therapy can help you feel better and live more fully. I’m excited that you’re considering therapy, and I look forward to working with you!
