Introduction

Hello, I am Michaela Thompson, Licensed Clinical Social Worker and owner of Be YOU Therapy and Consulting. I specialize in helping adults heal from relational trauma—the lasting impact of hurtful or unsafe relationships. Whether rooted in childhood, family dynamics, or toxic partnerships, relational trauma can leave you feeling stuck, unseen, or unable to trust. My goal is to provide a safe, judgment-free space where you can rediscover your authentic self and begin building healthier connections. I welcome laughing and crying in sessions, where there is pain there is also joy! Signs You May Be Carrying Relational Trauma: - Fear of abandonment or rejection - Difficulty trusting others - People-pleasing or putting others’ needs first - Struggles with boundaries - Emotional ups and downs that feel overwhelming - Repeating toxic relationship patterns Who I Work With: I offer individual therapy for adults ages 20+, including professionals and graduate students through virtual sessions in California, Kansas and Missouri. What We Work on Together: Understanding your story We explore how past relationships shaped your beliefs about love, safety, and worth. Identifying patterns: You’ll begin to notice recurring dynamics—like people-pleasing, fear of abandonment, or difficulty setting boundaries. Building emotional regulation tools: I’ll teach you how to calm your nervous system when triggers arise. Practicing new relational skills: You’ll learn how to set boundaries, express needs, and trust without losing yourself. What You’ll Gain: - A deeper understanding of your emotional responses - Tools to navigate relationships with clarity and confidence - A safe space to rewrite your relational blueprint My Background I earned my Master’s in Social Work from California State University, East Bay, with a focus on community mental health advocacy and wellness. With over 11 years of experience in social work, I’ve supported individuals in different systems including jails, community mental health, hospitals, home health, managed care and private practice. My work is grounded in compassion, empowerment, and evidence-based care. Ready to begin your healing journey? Request an appointment today and book your free 15-minute consultation. Let’s work together to break cycles, restore trust, and create relationships that feel safe and nourishing.
