I am Michelle Cortez, an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist who provides individual, couples, and family therapy in Newport Beach. I was drawn to this work through my deep curiosity about emotions, relationships, and the ways people can heal when they feel genuinely understood and supported. I believe meaningful change begins by creating space to understand, process, and express what may have been difficult to carry alone. I specialize in supporting clients experiencing trauma, anxiety, emotional overwhelm, relationship difficulties, family conflict, identity concerns, and major life transitions. I also work with individuals who want to strengthen their self worth, improve emotional regulation, and develop healthier ways of responding to stress and relationship challenges. My approach is calm, compassionate, and collaborative. I draw from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and other evidence based practices. Because therapy is not one size fits all, I take time to understand each client’s story, needs, strengths, and goals. I offer practical tools while also helping clients explore the deeper emotional patterns that may be keeping them feeling stuck. Through our work together, my goal is to help you feel more grounded, confident, and connected to yourself and the people who matter most. Whether you are healing from painful experiences, navigating a difficult transition, or trying to rebuild an important relationship, I would be honored to support you as you move toward meaningful and lasting change.
