Introduction

Michelle Gee, AMFT #137076 is supervised by Gina Nicola, LMFT #50875. Michelle practices at Element Therapy + Care, an integrative, faith-based counseling center launching in September 2025. After seeing a need in the community for accessible, trauma-informed mental health care, Element Christian Church moved to provide a solution. We exist to come alongside the broken and hurting, offering a safe, compassionate space to all—regardless of background or beliefs. We believe there is a powerful intersection between the science of psychology—and what it reveals about human behavior—and the spiritual reality of our existence. While we are affiliated with Element Christian Church and profess belief in the historic Christian faith, our therapy is respectful of each client’s cultural/spiritual background and individually tailored to clients’ needs. Our session fees are intentionally set below market-level, and sliding scale is provided on a case-by-case basis. Michelle has had longstanding interest in the power of narratives and our story-formed existence. After years of lay counseling experience, she studied psychology and religious studies at Westmont College, before receiving her master’s degree in psychology from California Southern University. She has worked with diverse populations ranging in severity in both community counseling center and short-term residential settings. Michelle pursued training in EMDR (eye movement desensitization and reprocessing) with Dr. Philip Manfield in 2022, and has found it to be an excellent, specialized modality for working with single-event and complex trauma, as well as other applications. She has also received advanced training in sensorimotor psychotherapy by Dr. Janina Fisher. Michelle’s therapeutic style is warm, compassionate, and active, often sprinkled with a sense of humor—all while remaining trauma-informed and client-centered at the core. Her therapeutic approach is informed by psychodynamic, somatic, narrative, attachment-focused, and CBT modalities. For clients of the Christian faith interested in biblical integration, Michelle offers deep exploration of the narrative arc of Scripture and implications of the Gospel on our view of the self, others, the world, and God.
