Introduction

Mikayla is a strengths-based therapist that specializes in supporting survivors of trauma across the lifespan. With several years of experience working with children and adults, Mikayla utilizes collaboration to encourage each individual to have agency in their treatment and recognizes that progress does not always feel linear, especially with trauma. Mikayla utilizes elements of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) through a trauma-informed approach to provide a space that is empathetic and promotes post-traumatic growth. She enjoys helping people explore what is helpful for their own healing, such as grounding techniques, to practical and accessible ways that you can manage day to day. Mikayla also has experience both individually and in a group setting with parents & caregivers who are processing their child’s traumatic experience. Mikayla received her MS in Mental Health Counseling through Suffolk University and has completed training in the use of Attachment Regulation Competency (ARC) and Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) with youth that are trauma survivors. Mikayla also enjoys working with neurodivergent individuals around areas of executive functioning, daily coping, and stage-of-life transitions. Realizing that multiple areas of life impact functioning, she is experienced with incorporating approaches in managing sleep disturbance and disruptions to routine. In addition, Mikayla has experience working with individuals that have experienced mental health challenges due to chronic pain as well as religious trauma. Both experiences can come with an intangible feeling of grief and loss, and difficulty with building a supportive community. She is passionate about supporting clients through these unique and at times isolating life experiences to reconnect with their sense of self.
