Hi, I'm Mitch. I came to counseling as a second career, after years of working as a writer, and I think that path shaped how I listen: I pay close attention to the story you're telling and to the parts you haven't found words for. You're likely here reading this because you want to know if I'm a good fit for you and while I can't answer that directly for you upfront, let me try to give you an idea of how I approach counseling. I believe you're the expert on your own life. My job isn't to hand you answers but to help you find the ones you already partly hold. I think you're doing your best with what you have, and reaching out, even reluctantly, shows you're ready for change. I draw from evidence-based approaches like CBT and ACT to help you notice unhelpful thought patterns, build distress tolerance, and strengthen emotional regulation, whether you're managing anxiety, rebuilding relationships, working on sobriety, or navigating a major transition. Think of me as a coach in your corner. I'll encourage your strengths, challenge you when it counts, and check in on your progress toward the goals you set. Most of the real work happens in daily life between sessions; it's rarely a straight line, and I respect how hard that work is. Outside the office, you'll find me lifting heavy weights, writing horror fiction, or hosting board game nights with my cat, Kita, supervising. If you're wondering whether we'd be a good fit, I encourage you to reach out. Let's figure it out together.
