Symptoms often make sense when we understand the story behind them. Many of us spend years trying to make emotional pain more manageable. We develop coping skills, stay busy, throw ourselves into work, exercise, meditate, seek comfort in relationships—or sometimes find ourselves relying on alcohol, substances, or other habits that offer temporary relief while making life more difficult in the long run. Many of these strategies help us get through difficult periods of our lives, but lasting change rarely comes from simply managing pain. More often, it begins by understanding where that pain comes from—and why those coping strategies developed in the first place. I’ve worked with adolescents, adults, and families in both residential treatment and private practice, supporting people through some of life’s most challenging seasons. My experience helps me recognize patterns that can be difficult to see from the inside while remaining curious about the unique story behind them. Together, we can make sense of what is happening beneath the surface and identify practical, individualized steps toward meaningful change. My own healing journey has also shaped the therapist I am today. I wouldn’t have chosen many of the hardest things I’ve lived through, but looking back, they shaped me in ways comfort never could have. I’ve learned that healing isn’t about becoming someone who never struggles, it’s about becoming someone who no longer has to run from their own experience. That understanding allows me to be present with yours—with honesty, compassion, and hope—and to challenge you when needed. At the heart of my work is a deep faith in life and in the healing process. I believe every person has inherent worth, that symptoms are adaptations rather than defects, and that even our most painful experiences can become part of our growth. There is an intelligence within the healing process, and when we stop fighting every difficult part of ourselves, new possibilities can begin to emerge. Wherever you find yourself today, you don’t have to go through it alone. I’d be honored to walk alongside you.
