Introduction

Monika Chalk is a registered Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (AMFT) based in San Diego, California. Monika works with adults, children, teens, seniors, couples, and families, supporting clients navigating anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), trauma, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), grief and loss, and life transitions. She is committed to providing compassionate, individualized care that empowers clients to build resilience, recognize their strengths, and move toward lasting healing. Monika earned a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and a Master of Science in Counseling with a concentration in Marriage, Family, and Child Therapy from the University of Phoenix in San Diego. As a former U.S. Navy Sailor, Monika developed a passion for supporting veterans experiencing identity challenges, isolation, and the lasting effects of military service. In addition to her work as a therapist, she is also a certified personal trainer, bringing a holistic perspective to mental health and overall wellness. Monika takes a strengths-based, client-centered approach to therapy, tailoring treatment to each individual's unique experiences, goals, and needs. She incorporates evidence-based modalities including Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Interpersonal Therapy (IPT), and Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT). Her clinical experience includes working with clients experiencing anxiety, grief and loss, trauma, PTSD, gender and cultural identity concerns, and sexual trauma. Monika believes that healing is built upon recognizing each person's inherent strengths and capacity for growth. Her goal is to create a supportive, collaborative environment where clients feel safe exploring life's challenges, developing practical coping strategies, and building a path toward greater confidence, wellness, and meaningful change.
