Introduction

Morgan is a Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor, Registered Play Therapist and Board-Certified in Tele-Mental Health counseling.  Morgan attended the University of Mississippi, where she received a Bachelor's in Psychology.  She then attended Auburn University where she received a Master's in Clinical Mental Health Counseling.  Morgan completed a post-Master's degree at the University of Mississippi in Play Therapy.  Morgan spent the first 4 years of her career working in community mental health in the Jackson Metro area focusing on both preteen, adolescent, and adult populations. Morgan's primary focus is working with ages 12 and up, along with family therapy between parents and their teens. Morgan is experienced in individual and family therapy, along with Play Therapy.  Morgan is skilled in working with clients who are experiencing anxiety, depression, oppositional defiance, anger outbursts, attention struggles, trauma and abuse history, psychosis, the struggles of being in foster care, attachment concerns, substance use, suicidal ideation, and self-harming behaviors.  Because you can't expect change in a family system by only working with one part of the system, Morgan believes in working with the adolescent and the parents/guardians on a regular basis.  Morgan makes an effort of having communications through the client portal, as well as email, along with meetings with parent/guardian to ensure that treatment progress is being made, that strides seen in therapy are being carried over into the home/school/social spheres for the client, and for parents/guardians to provide updates on new stressors/issues/behaviors that have arisen since the onset of the therapeutic relationship to ensure that treatment is continually focused on the current happenings with the client/family. Working with children and parents/guardians together bridges the gap of communication and understanding where true healing can occur.   Outside of her practice, Morgan enjoys spending time with her husband and 2 children, having meals and outings with her extended family, reading all the fiction books (the more fantasy and magic the better!), and cooking.  Within the community, Morgan is an active member of local community organizations that focus on bettering the lives of children and families in the Jackson Metro area, as well as an active member of the Association for Play Therapy and the Mississippi Association for Play Therapy. Morgan has served on the Board for the Mississippi Association for Play Therapy as a Board member, President-elect, and has been President for two years. Morgan actively attends yearly conferences, workshops, and trainings to ensure she is knowledgeable about current research and finding in both the fields of counseling and Play Therapy, as well as to learn new techniques and strategies she can bring back to her practice to enhance her work with children and families in the Jackson and surrounding areas. Morgan also enjoys her role as a Supervisor, as she is able to help new mental health professionals walk through the beginnings of their career, as well as help clinicians develop both personally and professional during their time in supervision.
