You do not have to have everything figured out before you come to therapy. You can start with what feels heavy, confusing, or hard to say out loud. My role is to meet you there and help you find a way forward that feels true to you. I’m Nakeshia Hemingway, a Provisionally Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist who works with individuals, teens, couples, and families. I’m especially passionate about helping teens build confidence, supporting people through life transitions, and helping families understand one another more deeply. My approach is warm, collaborative, and grounded in a simple belief: you are the leader of your life. Therapy gives us space to explore what is getting in your way and practice the skills that help you move forward. My background in academic advising and juvenile justice has shaped the way I see people. I know that behavior rarely tells the whole story. I bring curiosity and compassion to our work, whether we are talking about anxiety, relationships, family conflict, identity, or a season of life that no longer feels manageable. I also have training in play therapy approaches, which helps me connect with children and meet them where they are developmentally. To me, therapy is a place where you can speak freely, recognize your triggers, learn to regulate your emotions, and grow into a more authentic version of yourself. You already have a voice in your story. I would be honored to help you use it.
