Hello my name is Nancy Sherman and I am a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker. My approach to therapy and my focus area of practice is from a trauma impact perspective. Trauma not only affects us individually but it also interferes with our relationships with significant others, family members, and work colleagues. My journey to becoming a therapist has included serving in the U.S. Army for 12 years followed by working in the banking industry before my mentor encouraged me to return to school to become a social worker. I obtained my B.S.W. from Pacific Lutheran University and my M.S.W. from Walla Walla University. I worked in Crisis Services as a Mental Health Professional before I began my career with the Department of Defense working with Active Duty soldiers in 2014 and have worked at Ft. Wainwright, AK and Ft. Campbell, KY. Trauma-Informed Care (TIC) is an approach to therapy that recognizes the widespread impact of trauma on individuals' lives and emphasizes the need for treatment that is sensitive to the effects of trauma. This approach seeks to create a safe and supportive environment where clients feel empowered and can work through their experiences in a way that promotes healing.
