Introduction

Welcome! Introduction / Background Hi, I’m Nathan, an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist. I hold a bachelor’s degree in psychology, a master’s degree in Sport Psychology, and recently completed my master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy. I have over 18 years of experience working in behavioral health, wellness and health coaching, and sport and performance psychology, supporting individuals across the lifespan—from adolescents to older adults. My background also includes work as a certified personal trainer and martial arts instructor, which continues to inform my understanding of the mind–body connection, resilience, and sustainable change. My approach to therapy has been shaped by both professional training and lived experience, including my own experiences with anxiety, depression, and loss. I’ve seen how emotional challenges often emerge during periods of change, pressure, injury, grief, or identity shifts, and how powerful it can be to have a steady, supportive space during those times. I’m drawn to therapy because it allows people to slow down, feel understood, and reconnect with themselves in meaningful ways. I believe emotional well-being is closely tied to how we relate to ourselves, others, and the roles we carry throughout life. Therapy isn’t about fixing who you are—it’s about helping you find balance, clarity, and a path forward that feels authentic. My Approach My therapeutic approach is warm, collaborative, and person-centered. I see therapy as a partnership—you are the expert on your own life, and my role is to offer support, perspective, and practical guidance as we work together. I approach each concern with curiosity and empathy, creating a space where you can speak openly and feel respected without judgment. I take a strengths-based approach and draw from evidence-based modalities including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), mindfulness-informed practices, and psychodynamic perspectives. Our work is tailored to your goals, values, and pace, balancing emotional insight with clear, actionable tools that support meaningful, sustainable change. My Focus I support individuals navigating anxiety, depression, addiction, grief and loss, relationship challenges, self-esteem /confidence concerns, life transitions, and the emotional impact of chronic pain, injury, or illness. I have a particular interest in neuroscience-informed care, sport and performance psychology, the mind body connection, and men’s health—helping clients work with pressure, expectations, distress, anxiety, and emotional regulation both within and outside performance settings. My Goal for Clients My goal is to help you feel more grounded, supported, and confident in navigating life’s challenges. Therapy isn’t about eliminating discomfort or striving for constant progress—it’s about building awareness, self-compassion, and tools that support balance and resilience over time. I hope clients leave therapy with greater clarity, emotional steadiness, and a stronger sense of self-trust. Whether you’re working through a difficult season or seeking personal growth, my aim is to support you in building a life that feels more aligned, meaningful, and sustainable.
