Hi, I’m Nia, a Mental Health Counselor at Aspire To Wellness Behavioral Health, where I am dedicated to creating a safe, supportive, and empowering space for individuals seeking healing, growth, and greater self-understanding. I earned my Master of Arts in Mental Health Counseling from Iona University in New Rochelle, NY, and hold a Bachelor of Arts from SUNY Oswego. My training and clinical experiences have strengthened my passion for helping individuals navigate life’s challenges while building resilience, self-confidence, and emotional well-being. I have experience working with children, adolescents, and adults facing concerns such as anxiety, depression, ADHD, mood disorders, trauma, life transitions, and interpersonal challenges. I believe therapy is not one-size-fits-all, and I strive to meet each client where they are, tailoring treatment to their unique needs, strengths, and goals. As an African American woman, I value the importance of culture, identity, and lived experience in the therapeutic process. I am especially passionate about supporting Black youth and young adults as they navigate healing, identity development, and self-discovery. At the same time, I welcome and work with individuals of all races, cultures, and backgrounds, and I am committed to fostering a culturally affirming, inclusive, and respectful space for every client. My therapeutic approach is collaborative, strengths-based, and client-centered. I draw from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) techniques, Person-Centered Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, and Strengths-Based Therapy to help clients better understand themselves, develop healthy coping skills, and create meaningful, sustainable change. Prior to joining Aspire To Wellness Behavioral Health, I worked as a Senior Residence Counselor, providing direct support to adolescent females in residential settings, conducting service planning, offering emotional support, and teaching life skills. I also have experience facilitating group therapy in inpatient settings through my internship at New York Presbyterian Hospital, working with adults experiencing mood disorders and substance use challenges. In my free time, I enjoy shopping, dancing, going for walks, crocheting, reading, and spending time with family and friends. I believe self-care and finding joy in everyday moments are essential parts of overall wellness. My goal as a therapist is to provide a nonjudgmental, compassionate environment where clients feel heard, valued, and understood. Seeking support takes courage, and it is an honor to walk alongside clients as they move toward healing, growth, and a more fulfilling life.
