Introduction

I provide specialized psychotherapy for individuals facing chronic illness, life-ending diagnoses, and the unique emotional challenges of caregiving. I also enjoy working with first responders and veterans, drawing from my own life experience. Many of my clients are adjusting to overwhelming life changes, navigating feelings of grief, loss, fear, and uncertainty, while also seeking connection and meaning during this difficult time. Using a compassionate, mindfulness-based approach and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), I help clients engage with their new reality and invest in habits, mindsets, and practices that promote healing and emotional well-being. With extensive experience in mindfulness practice and a deep therapeutic presence, I support individuals, families, and caregivers in building resilience and finding meaning even in the face of profound challenges. Whether you are living with a chronic medical condition, adjusting to a terminal diagnosis, coping with caregiver stress, or experiencing anticipatory grief, you don’t have to face it alone. I offer a supportive, nurturing space where you can process your experiences, strengthen your emotional health, and reconnect with what matters most. If you are seeking grief counseling, chronic illness therapy, or caregiver support services, I am here to help. Together, we can work toward honoring your journey and discovering new ways to find hope, meaning, and connection. My Education Pamela Barber LMSW, earned her Master’s degree in Clinical Social Work from the University of Maryland, Baltimore. She has advanced post-graduate training in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), mindfulness practices, and Palliative Medicine. Pamela draws on her extensive experience in acute care hospital settings to support individuals and families facing complex medical and emotional challenges. Pamela has a particular passion for working with families of transgender adolescents, providing affirming and compassionate care. As a military veteran, she brings a deep understanding to her work with veterans, active-duty service members, and first responders. Throughout her career, Pamela has been committed to helping individuals navigate transitions and embrace transformation at every stage of life.
