Beginning therapy can feel intimidating, and it takes courage to sit down with someone new. I strive to make that process easier by creating a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental space from the very first session. I am passionate about listening to people's stories and working alongside them to find new ways of thinking, feeling, and being. I believe our past experiences shape us, but they don't have to define us. By understanding old patterns and beliefs, we can learn healthier approaches that allow us to live more fulfilling and authentic lives. I work with children (age 4 and up), teens, and adults on a wide range of concerns including anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship struggles, life transitions, and daily stress. My approach is integrative and tailored to each client's needs. I primarily use a Person-Centered and Psychodynamic foundation, incorporating somatic work, attachment theory, and NeuroAffective Relational Model (NARM). When helpful, I also integrate strategies from CBT and DBT. In addition to individual counseling, I also work with couples to strengthen communication, rebuild trust, and deepen connection. I use the Gottman Method as a foundation for this work. In addition to my counseling experience, I bring personal insight into the challenges of living with chronic health conditions such as celiac disease. This perspective helps me support clients navigating the emotional, social, and relational impact of health-related stressors—whether that means adjusting to new limitations, managing stress, or finding strength in self-advocacy. Before transitioning into clinical mental health counseling, I spent ten years as a Professional School Counselor, which deepened my understanding of children, families, and the challenges of balancing academic, emotional, and social needs. I still hold a valid license as a professional school counselor in Virginia. You will see On Purpose Counseling Services LLC listed in my Simple Practice profile. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor-In Training (LPC-IT) practicing under the supervision of Alex Luber, LPC through On Purpose Counseling Services LLC. However, I am the owner of Heart-full Counseling LLC and operate under my own practice. You are welcome to contact me directly at pamsheartfullcounseling@gmail.com or by calling 855-743-2789.
