Introduction

Hi, I’m Patricia, and I’m a therapist at Waters Counseling. My path toward becoming a therapist began at Weber State University, where I earned my degree in dance, fell in love with psychology, and discovered the connection between movement, the body, the mind, and overall well-being. Movement was my first form of communication and eventually became a healing pathway through some of my own struggles. Psychology gave me another language for understanding the human experience. During a service trip in Puerto Rico, I witnessed a community navigating loss, rebuilding, and finding strength and courage in connection after a massive hurricane and blackout. That experience shaped my belief that healing does not happen in isolation. We are shaped by our relationships, our communities, our bodies, and the environments around us. Over the years, I have worked with teens and adults in schools, residential treatment, partial hospitalization, and intensive outpatient settings. My first therapy internship introduced me to eating disorder treatment and deepened my understanding of the complicated relationships we can have with our bodies, food, identity, and sense of self. I also spent twelve years working with women, from teens to older adults, as a master esthetician and lash artist, where I loved helping them feel confident and empowered in their own bodies. I earned my Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with a specialization in dance and movement therapy. Today, I bring a trauma-informed, body-based approach to supporting people navigating anxiety, stress, trauma, eating disorders, body image, relationships, life transitions, grief, and feeling disconnected from themselves. I believe therapy should be a place where you can be fully human. You do not have to have all the answers or become someone different. My hope is to create a space where you feel safe enough to get curious about yourself, reconnect with what matters to you, and find your way back to yourself. Outside of therapy, you’ll probably find me spending time with people I love, going to a concert, enjoying a warm, chocolatey treat, reading a book, or finding any excuse to be outside. I’m still learning and growing too, and I think that is part of what makes us human.
