My Specialties: Social-Cultural Stress, Sex therapy, Trauma, Systemic oppression, Relationships, and LGBTQIA+ Therapy. Welcome to clients The decision to seek therapy can be difficult; however, you are here, and that's your first step. Do you struggle with sexual issues, gender identity, depression, or anxiety? I want to be able to help you go through that. I am an Afro-Cubano y Dominicano therapist who works with individuals and couples. I am particularly passionate about working with the BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ community, dealing with gender and identity issues. My job is to provide a safe environment where we may learn and grow while promoting empowerment. Together, we will explore the inner self to spot recurring patterns of behavior, process old traumas, pay attention to your body's signals on your needs for healing, and develop fresh approaches to change. Allow me to assist you in getting rid of the clutter so we can replant you and provide you with a fertile place to grow. Mi español es muy mal lo siento, pero puedo proporcionarle terapeuta de habla espanol. I am accepting clients both for teletherapy and in-person therapy. Don't hesitate to get in touch with me for availability. I see young adults as young as 17 years old. My Focus: I am passionate about how sexuality, gender, culture, relationships, and systems influence one another. I recognize that individuals with marginalized social identities experience unique health disparities and strive to recognize and respect everyone's needs as they seek care. I also know how to balance my clinical approach with empathy and humor to make my clients feel comfortable as they explore new perspectives on their lives. I am kink, BDSM, and consensual non-monogamy aware. My Approach: My therapeutic approach is a social construct approach to therapy. This gives me a view of therapy as a way of working to co-create new, more satisfactory 'stories' in ways that recognize their social, relational character. I work with my clients to help them set goals with negative beliefs, thinking practices, and behavior patterns by using both inner and outer talk, which is conversations we have while in a conversation and the dialog the client is speaking to the therapist and themselves. I also pay special attention to how systemic trauma and traumatic experiences impact how we show ourselves to the world. My Philosophy on Therapy: Therapy works when you and the client work together to achieve their goals in treatment—checking in with the client, being with, talking with, and acting with the client's stories by working with them to help them know that they have the skills to change their problems. My overall goal is to help you improve the quality of your life and relationships with others. I offer a warm and supportive environment where my clients have the freedom and support to explore their thoughts, ideas, issues, and goals. I believe the therapeutic relationship is where growth and insight begin, and I strive to make each client feel safe and comfortable to increase communication.
