Introduction

Hello, and welcome. My name is Phoebe Schumacher, and I am a Clinical Mental Health Counselor dedicated to helping individuals and couples navigate life's challenges with compassion, understanding, and practical tools for growth. I work with teens, adults, and couples, with special interests in trauma recovery, relationship counseling, anxiety, self-esteem, life transitions, and personal growth. My path into counseling was shaped by a deep desire to help others heal, grow, and discover their own resilience. Like many people, I have experienced life's challenges and understand how overwhelming it can feel to carry emotional pain alone. Those experiences inspired my commitment to creating a safe, supportive space where clients feel heard, respected, and empowered. My approach is warm, collaborative, and tailored to each client's unique needs. For couples, I utilize the Gottman Method, an evidence-based approach that helps partners improve communication, strengthen friendship and trust, navigate conflict more effectively, and rebuild emotional connection. For individuals working through trauma, I use trauma-informed approaches that recognize the connection between the mind, body, emotions, and nervous system. My work is informed by Richard Schwartz Internal Family Systems (IFS), Francine Shapiro - Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and somatic approaches inspired by the work of Bessel van der Kolk, author of The Body Keeps the Score. These approaches help clients understand how trauma is stored not only in thoughts and memories but also within the body and nervous system, creating opportunities for deeper healing and lasting change. In addition to traditional counseling, I enjoy incorporating mindfulness, creativity, psychoeducation, and practical skill-building into the therapeutic process when appropriate. I view healing as a whole-person journey that includes emotional, relational, physical, and personal well-being. Seeking help takes courage, and I consider it a privilege to walk alongside clients as they work toward healing, healthier relationships, greater self-understanding, and a more fulfilling life. Whether you are facing a specific challenge or simply seeking support and personal growth, I look forward to helping you on your journey.
