My name is Rachael Uffens and I am a Licensed Independent Addiction Counselor (LIAC) in Arizona, an Internationally Certified Advanced Alcohol and Drug Addition Counselor (ICAADC), and a Department of Transportation Qualified SAP. I am also an Arizona Board Approved Supervisor, EMDR Trained, and a Certified ACES trainer. I have worked over a decade as a therapist specializing in addiction, trauma, and mental illness. Through my time as a therapist, my drive to deliver the most effective, culturally appropriate, and trauma responsive care has grown exponentially, for not only the individual but the family and community of which they are a part of. During my years as a clinician, clinical manager, supervisor, and director working in community mental health and treatment centers, I provided counseling to individuals, families, and groups at all levels of care including Detox, Residential, Partial Hospitalization, Intensive Outpatient, and Outpatient while using modalities including EMDR, Family Systems Theory, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Psychodynamic Theory. I believe in the use of these modalities to help educate and process not only chemical and behavioral addictions, but also in helping individuals and families understand family dynamics, the neurobiology of addiction, trauma, cognitive distortions, and relapse prevention planning. As a therapist I am passionate about providing a safe, open, and trusting space where any individual can find hope and healing in a holistic manner. I find it important to work alongside my clients to help them create an individualized treatment plan that meets their specific needs both interpersonally as well as within their relationships, career, and other major life aspects/functions. Healing happens when your needs become non-negotiable, and I’d like to help find that for each of my clients.
