Introduction

I believe that therapy is not about fixing people, but about helping individuals recognize their strengths, process their experiences, and develop healthier ways of coping with life’s challenges. Whether you are struggling to navigate ADHD & neurodivergence, anxiety, depression & mood disorders, trauma, life transitions, or simply looking for support and self-discovery, I am committed to walking alongside you on your journey toward healing, growth, and wellness. I believe that every person’s story is unique, and I strive to meet each client where they are while helping them develop the tools, insight, and confidence needed to move toward healing and personal growth. I am especially passionate about helping those who look like me, individuals within the Black community, to navigate their mental health journeys and find a space where they feel supported, understood, and empowered. For many in the Black community, conversations about mental health have historically been surrounded by stigma, misunderstanding, or a lack of access to supportive resources. I want to be part of changing that narrative by providing culturally responsive care and creating a space where people feel comfortable seeking help without fear of judgment. As a young Black therapist, I understand the value of having someone who can appreciate both the unique strengths and challenges that can come with our lived experiences. Overall my goal is to create a calm, welcoming, and nonjudgmental environment where clients can show up as their authentic selves and feel safe exploring their thoughts, emotions, and experiences so that every client who enters my office leaves feeling heard, valued, and empowered to continue becoming the person they want to be. I am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Associate (LCMHCA) and National Certified Counselor (NCC) with a Master’s degree in Rehabilitation and Mental Health Counseling from Virginia Commonwealth University. In my previous employment I was a Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor in which I assisted client with mental health diagnoses obtain employment and services related to the advancement of their careers. In this field and also currently I implement the use of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. I also utilize other modalities such as Motivational Interviewing, Roleplaying, and Gestalt Psychotherapy theory. My goal is to look at the here and now and figure out how I can guide and assist my clients towards the goals they have set. My hope is that every client who enters my office leaves feeling heard, valued, and empowered to continue becoming the person they want to be. My passion for this work comes not only from my professional training but also from my own personal experiences. I have had to work through my own trauma and navigate my own mental health diagnosis. Those experiences taught me how powerful healing can be when we have the right support, resources, and space to process what we have been through. While everyone’s journey is different, my experiences have given me a deeper sense of empathy and understanding for those who are facing their own struggles. I currently work with ages ranging from Adolescents (13-19) to Adults. When I am not at work, I am a husband, artist, avid gym goer, and also an extremely massive nerd. My weeks are usually filled with sprinkling in time to do commissions for art and playing the Pokemon Card Game at my local game stores! Also most importantly hanging out with my beautiful wife, Cora, and my amazing cat, Morris Luther. I look forward to working with you!
