Introduction

Becky is a Nationally Certified Counselor and a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor in the State of North Carolina. She is a graduate from Appalachian State’s Clinical Mental Health Counseling program with a concentration in Marriage and Family Therapy. Becky also holds a graduate certificate in Addictions Counseling. Becky has spent most of her counseling experience working with teens and adults of all ages facing a variety of concerns such as: anxiety, panic, mild-to-moderate depression, grief, OCD, trauma and PTSD, grief, chronic and terminal illness, and relational issues. She is interested in family systems work and the impact of addiction on those systems. Becky values exploring the impact of physical health on mental wellbeing and understanding how each client’s unique spirituality plays a role in their overall wellness. As a counselor, Becky hopes to create a safe and welcoming space for her clients to undergo exploration of their past and current circumstances and emotions. She believes that cultivating a positive therapeutic relationship and taking a collaborative approach to treatment is pivotal in counseling. Therapeutically, Becky works from a person-centered basis and implements a combination of cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), acceptance commitment therapy (ACT), and internal family systems therapy (IFS), while accounting for each individual client’s counseling needs. Becky is additionally trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) and implements it with clients experiencing a variety of concerns, from complex trauma to self-esteem. In her free time, Becky enjoys making memories with her husband, two daughters, family and friends, trying out new arts & crafts, exercising, and being outdoors.
