Renee Williamson MEd, LSC, LCMHC, NCC, ITFS

Renee Williamson is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor with years of experience in the mental health field. She has worked extensively with children, teens, and families in various school settings including early education, developmental education, and charter/public school systems. She has also spent time in senior care, residential prisoner re-entry programs, and foster and adoptive care. Renee is an advocate for individuals and families affected by mental illness, substance abuse, and developmental disabilities. Renee holds a Master of Education from The University of North Carolina at Pembroke and a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from North Carolina Wesleyan University. She employs cognitive behavioral therapy as a main approach to help clients become self-aware, acquire appropriate skills, and gain valuable insights to support them through life's challenges. "I like to utilize a holistic approach to counseling that allows a full focus on the client, taking all aspects of what they share about themselves and their lives into consideration during our time. This approach helps me as a provider to understand what my client's current situation does not allow them too. Together, we can set goals and develop a treatment plan that can encourage and teach new skills to help overcome hurdles or heal on many levels." Renee seeks to create a safe and nurturing environment for individuals moving through various life transitions. She is committed to addressing the deeper issues that are often difficult to discuss to help clients reach change, healing, and relief.
