Introduction

Hello, I'm Renee! When I say "I get it," I actually do. I haven’t just studied trauma and crisis in textbooks; I have lived them. For over two decades, my life was rooted on the front lines of public safety. I served as a Smyrna Police Officer (2000–2007), an Acworth and Smyrna Detention Officer, and a ChattComm911 Dispatcher. I’ve been married to a Cobb County firefighter since 2012. I know the unique weight of the first responder world, which is why I eventually served as the Lead Clinician for the Cobb County Department of Public Safety (2021–2023). Professionally, I hold a B.A. in Criminal Justice from Bethany College (1999) and a Master of Arts in Counseling from Argosy University (2010). Since opening my private practice in 2015, I have walked with children, teens, adults, couples, and families through their absolute darkest moments—grief, abuse, anger, anxiety, self-harm, and suicidal ideation. But my own ultimate testing hit in 2024–2025. The chaos of perimenopause completely gripped me, my marriage was in grave danger, and I had just escaped a cult by the grace of God. It was all earth-shattering. Because I survived that perfect storm, I am intentionally shifting the focus of my practice. I know what it looks like to watch your life break apart, and I know what it takes to rebuild it.
