Introduction

Listening Tree Counseling Services Deep Listening & Meaningful Growth Welcome! Life is a complex journey filled with moments of joy, unexpected challenges, major transitions, and profound personal growth. We all deserve a safe, confidential, and welcoming space where we can share our true stories, honor our strengths, make sense of our pain, and chart a gentle path forward. My role as your therapist is simple: to meet you exactly where you are and walk alongside you with genuine warmth, deep presence, and supportive directness. About Me & My Approach Listening Tree Counseling Services offers a rare blend of clinical mental health expertise, grounded presence, and seasoned support. Before opening my practice as a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC), I spent 30 years serving as a hospital chaplain. Having spent three decades walking alongside individuals receiving health care, families, healthcare workers, and students through life’s most profound moments, I bring a unique depth of experience to clinical psychotherapy. My background allows me to sit comfortably with heavy realities, complex emotions, and existential questions—offering a calm, judgment-free space where you never have to navigate healing alone. I am passionate about caring for people across all cultures, ethnicities, identities, beliefs, and relationship styles. Whether you are managing burnout, walking through a difficult transition, or seeking a space that honors your faith, I am here to help you cultivate resilience, clarity, and peace. Who I Help & Specialized Focus Areas Spiritually Integrated Psychotherapy: Respectfully weaving your personal faith, values, and spiritual foundation into your emotional healing and mental health recovery—honoring your beliefs as a source of strength, meaning, and wholeness. Healthcare & Medical Professionals: Providing specialized support for physicians, nurses, clinicians, and hospital staff navigating provider burnout, compassion fatigue, moral injury, and medical crises. CME & Higher Education Students: Supporting students and trainees managing academic stress, perfectionism, professional identity formation, career shifts, and personal wellbeing. Adolescents and Adults Navigating Life Adjustments: Helping individuals work through major life shifts, career transitions, relational changes, anxiety, depression, and stress. Individuals & Families Facing Serious Medical Illness: Offering expert care for those coping with medical trauma, chronic illness, caregiving stress, end-of-life care, and grief. Couples & Relationship Counseling: Strengthening attachment, communication, and connection for couples and all relationship constellations at any stage (Prepare & Enrich Facilitator). Beyond the Counseling Room Outside of my clinical work, I am grounded by my family—my wife, our two adult children, and our beloved pets, Charlotte (a Greyhound) and Mabel (a Maine Coon mix). When I’m off the clock, you’ll usually find me spending time with friends, getting lost in a good medical mystery novel, enjoying the outdoors, listening to music, or exploring local restaurants as a self-proclaimed foodie on the hunt for great eats. Practice Details & Getting Started Location & Format: Primarily Telehealth across North Carolina, with limited in-person appointments available in Chapel Hill.
