I work with people who look steady from the outside and are tired on the inside, including many LGBTQ+ adults and couples. You won’t be lectured here, and you should leave early sessions with something usable. From the outside, things may look fine. You function, you deliver, and you’re the one others lean on. Inside, the anxiety doesn’t switch off, a relationship keeps circling the same argument, or something you’re used to being judged for is taking up more room than you’d like. I work with adults and couples, many of them LGBTQ+, who are high-functioning and privately exhausted. A gay man myself, I offer a space where you can be fully yourself and still be thoughtfully challenged. I came to this work through HIV medical social work and harm reduction at the San Francisco AIDS Foundation and Strut. That shaped how I approach substance use, sex, shame, and relationships: with directness and without judgment. With couples, I use Emotionally Focused Therapy to help partners understand the cycle beneath the conflict and find their way back to each other. With individuals, I blend CBT for tools you need now, Motivational Interviewing for change you keep circling, and psychodynamic work for patterns that keep repeating. Sessions are online across California, Massachusetts and New York, with daytime and late-afternoon Pacific times (evenings Eastern). Sesiones en español.
