Axis Mundi Center for Mental Health would like to present Riva Szostkowski. Riva is a Marriage and Family Therapist Trainee and is supervised weekly by Elysha Martinez LMFT 93493. The supervisor works with Riva to to help develop her clinical skills and ensure that she provides quality care to you as the client. My passion is partnering with individuals and families experiencing tension or disconnection in their relationships, worry about existing and parenting in today's world, and how to navigate generational legacies. I work alongside you to foster resilience and deep, lasting connection. In addition to family work, I welcome individual adult clients seeking a deeper understanding of themselves and their relationships. I take a relational approach to therapy, meaning that I believe that deep healing happens in connection: between therapist and client, with ourselves, our families and communities, and the natural world. We engage in work (and play!) that addresses these relationships as a path to discovery. I hold our time together as a space to write your own story and re-write your understanding of yourself and your place in the world. I like to take this outdoors when possible, so I offer eco-therapy in Berkeley and Oakland. I also work via telehealth with people residing across California. "When despair for the world grows in me and I wake in the night at the least sound in fear of what my life and my children’s lives may be, I go and lie down where the wood drake rests in his beauty on the water, and the great heron feeds. I come into the peace of wild things who do not tax their lives with forethought of grief. I come into the presence of still water. And I feel above me the day-blind stars waiting with their light. For a time I rest in the grace of the world, and am free." -Wendell Berry
