Greetings, thank you for taking the time to get to know me. I am Romalyn Aaron and you can call me Roma. I am a licensed professional counselor in Alabama, and I am glad you are here. In Jasper, I make room for tired, hopeful, grieving, and brave people, and I treat that place as a start, not a verdict. I believe you already hold more strength than you can see. I was born in the Philippines, came to the U.S. in 1986, and was raised in California by a single father. After 9/11 I served as an Army Preventive Medicine Specialist (SSG), 2002–2013, including a deployment to Iraq. I call my Army-funded degrees a loan I am happy to repay in care. Those degrees include a BS and MS in Psychology, an MA in Marriage and Family Therapy, an MA in Professional Counseling, and an EdS in Traumatology. I am completing an EdD on gaps in family reunification services. I also hold NCC, ADC/ICADC, CCTP, and EMDR training, with EMDRIA certification in progress. In 2025 I co-founded Stronger Mental Health Counseling Services LLC with Alicia McArthur and Mick Crump. At SMH Counseling we treat trauma, substance use, grief, families, and problem sexual behavior using CBT, DBT, EMDR, Motivational Interviewing, and Seeking Safety. Virtual sessions let me serve all of Alabama. Faith is welcome if you bring it. My husband, Jamie Aaron, a retired Marine, co-owns SMH Counseling with me. I will tell the truth kindly and walk with you toward what is next. Come as you are, friend! I would love to meet you!
