Words are not always needed to express yourself or to receive the "words" of another. I practice art therapy and therapeutic art** from a person-centered and trauma-informed perspective. This means I approach all clients from a place of compassion and non-judgement as I walk alongside them on their personal journeys to become who they are designed to be. My practice focuses on the role of empathy in establishing safety, secure relationship, and a feeling of being truly heard and seen, all of which are vital to healing and growth. I can also integrate a Christian faith-based approach to art therapy if clients request it. ** What is the difference between art therapy and therapeutic art? "Art therapy" indicates that we are using art making to work with a mental health diagnosis and is sometimes called "clinical" work. "Therapeutic art" focuses on other "non-clinical" goals. Please be aware that insurance typically does not cover non-clinical work.
