Introduction

Ruth Head (She/They) Registered Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (#158845) I believe that every person deserves to be treated with respect, compassion, and genuine curiosity. My approach is rooted in a simple philosophy: treat others the way you would want to be treated. I recognize that you are the expert on your own life, experiences, and values. Rather than telling you what to do, I work alongside you to help you discover what feels authentic and meaningful for you. Therapy with me is collaborative and client-centered. I like to say, "I guide, you drive." My role is to provide support, evidence-based tools, and a safe space to explore challenges, while you remain in control of your therapeutic journey. Therapy can be hard, and healing isn't always linear, but I believe that growth happens when you feel safe enough to be honest, challenged enough to keep moving forward, and supported throughout the process. Because no two people are the same, I tailor my approach to each client's unique needs. I primarily draw from mindfulness-based Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), and creative arts interventions, while integrating other evidence-based modalities as appropriate. I believe therapy should be a balance of reflection, autonomy, play, and a little bit of whimsy. Whether we're exploring emotions through conversation, art, metaphors, music, or mindfulness, my goal is to create a space where you feel empowered to learn about yourself in ways that are both meaningful and engaging. Outside of the therapy room, you'll usually find me crocheting, writing, listening to music, or watching movies. I have a deep appreciation for metaphors; I definitely talk with my hands, and I believe humor has an important place in the healing process. If you're looking for a therapist who can reference both coping skills and internet memes in the same conversation (when appropriate, of course), and who embraces being chronically online in the best way, we might be a great fit.
