Introduction

Sabrina Tropper is a licensed therapist in New York and New Jersey and the founder of Counseling Works NYC, a private practice based in New York City. Sabrina’s specialty is helping those who have the tendency to put everyone else first, leaving them feeling emotionally exhausted and burned out. Many of these clients don’t prioritize their own wellbeing, instead focusing on making sure that everyone else is feeling comfortable. This behavioral pattern may stem from trauma or past experiences that led them to de-prioritize their own needs. Sabrina’s clients are often looking for ways to better manage their time, feeling stretched thin, improve communication skills set better boundaries with others. They also want to learn how to feel more fulfilled in their lives, as their current ways of seeking happiness aren’t working. Sabrina is certified in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy, a therapy modality that uses body-based strategies to promote change. EMDR is helpful for those who feel stuck in emotional reactions, and it can be useful in overcoming trauma. Sabrina also incorporates Internal Family Systems therapy and psychodynamic therapy into her sessions to encourage clients to reflect on their backgrounds and early experiences. She guides them through consideration of their deeply held beliefs, that tend ti impact the way they interact with others. Sabrina earned a Master’s degree from Baruch College, the City University of New York. She has a background in child welfare and is an advocate for those with marginalized identities. She brings this passion into her work with clients, empowering them to live more authentically as themselves while creating meaningful and fulfilling lives.
