Sara Larios Mitchell, PhD, MACP is a licensed psychologist and is passionate about working with children, teens, and young adults. Her career spans over 15 years working with individuals who have experienced anxiety, trauma, grief, domestic violence, sexual assault, and addiction. She holds a masters degree in counseling psychology from Golden Gate University in San Francisco, and a doctorate degree from the Institute of Transpersonal Psychology in Palo Alto. Sara has completed advanced training in treating anxiety disorders in children and adolescents, and has completed training focused on the infant-parent relationship at the UCSF/San Francisco General Hospital. She received training at the Child Trauma Training Institute in San Francisco, and was in a clinical supervisor consultation group with Dr. Alicia Lieberman, the co-creator of the Child Parent Psychotherapy model. Sara believes that when children, youth and young adults receive support from caring, compassionate, and safe adults, they can find a language to express their story and challenges. They have the potential to heal, build resilience, and grow. Sara is highly collaborative and believes that parents are the most important influence on a child's life. Sara works in partnership with parents to assist them in better understanding their child's emotional difficulties and encourages them to apply new techniques to support their child.
