Thank you for reaching out! During your first session, I'll spend time getting to know you and discuss the issue(s) you want to address. Following that, we'll collaborate on your next steps, including your goals for therapy and find solutions that work for you. I have been practicing for 5 1/2 years as a mental health counselor. I have been formally trained in EMDR as well as being certified in mindfulness. I also utilize other interventions based in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance Commitment Therapy, Existential, and Psychodynamic. Along with my degree, a big part of what I bring to the table as a clinician is my life experience. I decided to become a therapist, mid-life, after weathering a difficult crisis and learning how to work through it. I believe post-traumatic growth is possible, but it requires some effort to face challenges and identify what is needed to overcome them. I see myself as a resource in helping to build my clients' capacity to endure whatever is happening in the moment or the pain of the past. I work with individuals ages 18 and up to treat anxiety, depression, trauma, stress, grief and loss, life transitions and relationship issues and stress. I take a relational approach by listening and building rapport with my clients. It's important to understand the person and the context from which they come in order to find solutions and interventions that work.
