I believe that emotions are logical! Many of my clients have learned to dismiss their emotions as illogical noise to be filtered out in order to achieve some sort of perfection of thought. I prefer to see and treat emotions as important data that can inform logic and reasoning. Humans have evolved emotions for a reason. I like to work with clients to figure out that reason. I will never claim to be an expert in anything, but I have lived and clinical experience with autism, ADHD, the LGBTQ+ community, and faith transitions. I prefer a person-centered approach and utilize components of ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy), DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy), and EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing). I like to use psychoeducation to explain what I am doing with clients and why I am doing it. I think it's important and I love when clients ask! I believe therapy works best when clients are willing to share feedback and therapists are willing to listen. So please feel free to ask or comment on how we are working together, or how we might work together.
