Introduction

Hi, my name is Sarah Simpson and my work is centered around Somatic Therapy for Trauma, Attachment, and Relationships. Rather than asking you to repeatedly retell painful experiences, we work gently with what is happening in the present moment. This may include noticing sensations, impulses, emotions, images, patterns of tension, shifts in breathing, movement, numbness, or moments of emerging safety. This is done through Somatic Experiencing. CBT, "talk therapy" remains part of our work. We use conversation to understand your experiences, build meaning, and support integration while also listening to what your body communicates beyond words. I work with both individuals and couples. Our work together may include: *Recognizing how your nervous system responds to stress, conflict, closeness, uncertainty, and vulnerability. Gently working with trauma responses such as fight, flight, freeze, shutdown, collapse, appeasement, or chronic overfunctioning. *Exploring how early attachment experiences continue to shape your adult relationships. Noticing what your body communicates through tension, numbness, anxiety, restlessness, pain, disconnection, or overwhelm. *Increasing your capacity to remain present with emotion without becoming flooded or shutting down. Understanding the protective parts of you that developed for good reasons and helping them feel less alone. Completing survival responses that may still feel unfinished within the body. *Strengthening boundaries, self-trust, emotional regulation, and the ability to recognize your own needs. Working with concerns related to intimacy, desire, sexuality, betrayal, emotional disconnection, and relational trauma. Creating new experiences of safety, connection, choice, and secure attachment. I primarily work with individuals who: * feel anxious, tense, numb, shut down, disconnected, or exhausted without fully understanding why. *are beginning to recognize how childhood experiences or attachment wounds continue to shape your relationships. *struggling to feel safe during closeness, vulnerability, intimacy, or sexual connection. *have spent years trying to think your way through healing and are ready to include your body. *are looking for more than symptom management. You want to feel more grounded, connected, authentic, and at home within yourself. Healing begins by listening to the body that has been trying to protect you—and helping it discover that new experiences are possible. Why “Embodied Alignment?” Healing is more than insight. Many people can explain their patterns, identify their triggers, and understand why they respond the way they do, yet their body continues reacting as though the danger is still happening. Embodied reflects the understanding that trauma, attachment wounds, stress, intimacy, and emotional experiences live not only within our thoughts, but also within the nervous system and body. Alignment is not about perfection or remaining calm all the time. It is the process of reconnecting with yourself in a way that feels grounded, internally coherent, emotionally honest, and sustainable. As your nervous system develops a greater capacity for safety, choice, and connection, change becomes less about forcing yourself to behave differently. It becomes possible to respond differently because your body no longer believes it must protect you in the same way. A note about my education: I am a PhD candidate in Clinical Sexology where I have researched Somatic Sexology. I hold a Masters degree from Arizona State University in Social Work. Additionally, I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (meaning I have had thousands of hours of supervision as well as in the field). I am also a Somatic Experiencing professional at the Intermediate Level (meaning I am working on my second year and near completion). I draw primarily from Somatic Experiencing®, attachment-based psychotherapy, parts-informed work, trauma-informed therapy, and somatic sex therapy. I am passionate about helping individuals who love their partner but don't feel like they are connecting in their relationships. I am also no stranger to church culture and the ways it also plays into sexuality, connection. and expressions. This is a safe place to explore yourself, your relationships, and your sexuality. Therapy is collaborative, paced carefully, and tailored to your goals. You remain in control of the process. You will not be pushed to disclose, revisit, or move through anything before your system is ready. Thank you for visiting. Feel free to reach out to me at (928)275-4066. I would be honored to walk alongside you.
