Shannon (she/her) is an independently licensed clinical social worker. Her career has focused on working with children, adolescents, adults, and families in school, day treatment, and outpatient clinic settings over the past two decades. While she continues to enjoy using traditional talk therapy in her therapy sessions, she also strongly believes in the idea of healing through movement. A former fitness instructor and lifelong athlete, Shannon is certified in Trauma Informed Weight Lifting and uses weight lifting as a therapeutic modality in her practice for teenagers and adults interested in working through trauma, anxiety, depression, or other life changes. Not about changing body composition and accessible to all fitness levels and physical abilities, this work is largely rooted in metaphor and gives clients an opportunity to fail safely, expand their window of tolerance for emotional discomfort, build resilience, strength, and healthy coping skills, and improve a mind-body connection for those struggling to feel one. “I am a humanistic therapist at my core, meaning that I inherently believe in the goodness of each person who walks through my door or appears on my screen for a therapy session. I trust that we each possess all that we need to heal; we just need space to listen to our own quiet knowing, and perhaps the right movement to allow this energy to move forward. My hope is that my clients feel safe, welcomed, hopeful and supported in their work with me.”
