Introduction

Welcome to My Safe Space Counseling. My name is Sharlyn McGary, M.Ed., LPC, and I’m honored to walk alongside you in your journey toward healing and growth. Welcome to My Safe Space Counseling. My name is Sharlyn McGary, M.Ed., LPC, and I am honored to support you on your journey toward healing, growth, and emotional wellness. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor with over 20 years of combined experience in education and mental health. I specialize in working with adolescent girls, young women, and adult women (ages 12–65) who are navigating life transitions, trauma, anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, and emotional overwhelm. My work is grounded in a deep commitment to helping women and families strengthen their relationships—with themselves and with one another. My therapeutic approach is warm, collaborative, and rooted in emotional safety. I integrate evidence-based practices including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), solution-focused strategies, and person-centered care. I believe meaningful change begins by meeting clients where they are and empowering them to develop insight, resilience, and practical tools for growth. Whether we meet in person or through telehealth, my goal is to create a safe, supportive space where you feel seen, heard, and valued. Therapy with me is not about perfection—it is about progress, self-discovery, and learning to move forward with confidence and compassion.
