I'm Sharon Manning, and I've been doing this work since graduate school over twenty years ago. In that time, I've come to believe that most people who find their way to therapy have already been trying to figure things out on their own — reading, reflecting, talking it through with people close to them. Something usually brings them in at a particular moment — a change, a breaking point, a conversation that shifted something. Midlife and the hormonal shifts of perimenopause and menopause are one area I focus on closely — it's common to feel more anxious, more depressed, more exhausted, or less like yourself, without anyone naming why, and that piece often changes what actually helps. Trauma is another major focus of my work, whether or not it's the root cause. And plenty of what brings people in is more everyday than either of those: anxiety, chronic overwhelm, burnout, the sense of running on empty. I draw on CBT, IFS, EMDR, and psychodynamic work, tailored to what you actually need. My training includes an MSW from Smith College, two psychoanalytic fellowships— but what matters most in our work together is finding the approach that actually fits you. I see a small number of private clients directly, offering virtual therapy across Massachusetts, and I offer a free 20-minute consultation so we can get a sense of whether this is a good fit.
