Introduction

Hello! Hi, I’m Shelly Madan, an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist with several years of experience working in the mental health field. I am passionate about supporting individuals, couples, families, and children as they navigate emotional challenges, life transitions, and relational concerns. Professional Background My path into mental health work began early, starting as a peer counselor in high school. That formative experience sparked a lasting commitment to helping others and led me to pursue a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology. Following graduation, I worked extensively with neurodivergent children, an experience that deepened my understanding of development, family systems, and the importance of individualized care. This work ultimately inspired me to pursue a Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Therapy. Since completing my graduate training, I have worked across a range of clinical settings, including schools, in-home services, telehealth, and in-person therapy. I also have experience working with high-risk and court-mandated individuals, which has strengthened my ability to provide structured, ethical, and compassionate care while maintaining clear boundaries and accountability. Area of Focus I work with individuals, couples, families, and children who are navigating anxiety, major life transitions, trauma, and relational or emotional challenges. I am particularly drawn to working with clients who have experienced trauma, supporting them in building safety, resilience, and a deeper understanding of themselves and their relationships. Therapeutic Approach My approach to therapy is relational, collaborative, and client centered. I draw from evidence-based modalities including Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) to help clients understand patterns, regulate emotions, and strengthen connection within themselves and with others. I believe therapy is most effective when clients feel heard, respected, and actively engaged in the process, and I strive to balance empathy with practical, skills-based interventions that support meaningful change. My Goal for You My goal is to help you feel supported, empowered, and more connected to yourself and the people around you. I aim to create a warm, nonjudgmental space where growth feels possible and where you can approach challenges with greater clarity, confidence, and resilience.
