Good day and welcome to Monte Cristo Counseling, currently serving clients in North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, and Texas. I'm glad you are here. I'm a Licensed Counselor who has spent nearly the last two decades working with people in professional counseling throughout the United States - from the mountains of Central Virginia to Houston, Texas, to Portland, Oregon, to presently the beaches of the Carolinas. In addition to counseling, I write, travel for research, jump out of planes, and speak at conferences. You deserve a space where your values, identity, and lived experience are respected without judgment. It's your life and you deserve to live it on your terms with the tools to help you achieve your goals and find meaning (that's where I come in to help!). Many of my clients come to me because they want therapy that is evidence‑based, down-to-earth, and honors their values and dignity. Some clients tell me they have read or heard about my story that I shared at the Viktor Frankl World Congress in Chicago this year about overcoming fear and fighting my own struggles with injustice to find courage, resolve, and a commitment to live well, in spite of everything. However you got here, I welcome you. I specialize in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), the new cutting-edge Recovery-Oriented Cognitive Therapy (CT-R), and person‑centered approaches that help you understand patterns, build practical skills, and move toward a life that feels meaningful and aligned with your values. Whether you’re navigating anxiety, relationship stress, identity questions, or the impact of all the division out there, we work together to create clarity and momentum. My practice is fully affirming of client individual identities, wherever you come from. I’m here. Reach out and let's do some therapy!
