Healing often begins by understanding where we come from. Sierra believes the foundations laid in early childhood shape our capacity for resilience well into adulthood. Years spent nurturing early childhood development as a preschool teacher gave her a firsthand understanding of how safety, connection, and support in those formative years build the groundwork for how people cope, adapt, and grow later in life. That understanding continues to guide how she works with clients today, with patience, warmth, and an eye toward the bigger picture of their story. Sierra holds a Master of Social Work from Walden University and a B.A. in Psychological Science from Central Connecticut State University. She has provided individual counseling and group facilitation at the ROOT Center for Advanced Recovery, using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Motivational Interviewing to support clients through recovery. Her work with youth involved in the justice system through the Waterbury Youth Services Juvenile Review Board incorporated Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) techniques to help youth build emotional regulation and coping skills to bring with them into young adulthood. Sierra’s approach is warm, patient, and relationship-centered. She believes meaningful change happens in a space built on trust and genuine connection, bringing active listening, empathy, and a steady, non-judgmental presence to every session that meets clients exactly where they are.
