If you’ve ever felt like you’re explaining yourself over and over and still not quite being understood, you’re not alone. A lot of the queer and LGBTQ+ adults I work with come in feeling stuck, discouraged, or unsure whether therapy can actually help after past experiences that missed the mark. I’m a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor with over 30 years of experience. Most of my clients are queer adults, and I try to offer a space where you don’t have to overthink your words or explain who you are. I’m also the mother of two queer kids and I run a support group for parents of queer children, which shapes how I understand both personal and family dynamics. I work in a collaborative, down-to-earth way. We talk about what’s going on now, what keeps getting in the way, and what might help things feel a little less heavy or stuck. If therapy hasn’t worked for you before, it doesn’t mean you did anything wrong. Sometimes it’s just about finding someone who feels like a better fit.
