I truly believe that therapy should feel like a space where someone genuinely sees you, rather than an appointment where you need to have all the right words or have it all figured out. I take a very humanistic approach to counseling, meaning, I am warm, collaborative and value creating a space where people can feel supported yet challenged enough to grow. While I am eclectic in my use of modalities, I am an EMDR-trained clinician and it stands as one of my favorite tools for helping people heal from painful experiences. EMDR is an evidenced backed approach that uses bilateral stimulation to help reduce the level of distress and negative core beliefs related to overwhelming or difficult past experiences. I particularly enjoy working with adult aged women who are navigating anxiety, life transitions or complex childhood and family dynamics. A common theme among the people I work with is the experienced exhaustion from always being “the strong one”, ruminating over past situations, a negative inner critic, people-pleasing behaviors or feeling responsible for everyone (while neglecting their own needs). Together, my clients and I explore these patterns with curiosity and find ways to create a more compassionate, authentic and aligned life.
