“Not everything that is faced can be changed, but nothing can be changed until it is faced.” —James Baldwin. It has been a privilege to help individuals face areas of life that cause emotional discomfort and may lead to avoidance. I began my therapy career working with college students in counseling centers, and I have been in private practice for more than eight years. My therapeutic approach is strengths-based, eclectic, and collaborative. I offer a free 15-minute consultation before therapy begins so we can determine whether we may be a good therapeutic fit. The first session is an initial intake, where we share and gather information. During the first several sessions, we may begin setting goals and developing a treatment plan. When appropriate, and if it works for you, I may use humor, book references, or song lyrics to help capture what may be happening in the moment.
