My primary aim in my work is to meet my clients "where they are" by tuning in to their unique concerns and creating an atmosphere where they feel acknowledged and at ease. My style is warm, empathic and engaged which, combined with my acumen as a seasoned clinician, helps people feel comfortable and secure. Within this safe space, my clients express their concerns and work to repair and optimize wholesome development with professional recommendations that help to inform a collaborative therapeutic plan. My specialties include women's issues, fertility, pregnancy, prenatal and postpartum depression and anxiety, parent/child and attachment issues. With training in mindfulness-based, interpersonal, trauma-sensitive, attachment-based, cognitive-behavioral, and psychodynamic therapeutic approaches, I can flexibly accommodate the needs of my clients. I am a seasoned clinician with a diverse professional background; college counseling center director, adjunct professor, supervisor of mental health professionals, consultant to preschools. Working together, with awareness of your unique family dynamics and the cultural, political, and other contextual factors at play, we aim to alleviate your unnecessary suffering, improve your capacity for love, work, and pleasure, and empower you to provide the best care for yourself and your loved ones. I can be reached through Simple Practice, Headway, Alma or you can send me an email at stephaniecarlsonphd@gmail.com.
