Introduction

Hello and welcome. I am Susan, a Licensed Professional Counselor, offering somatic (body-based) therapy via telehealth for individuals in Arkansas, Montana, and New Mexico. When “talking about it” hasn’t been enough… when your body still reacts even though you know you are safe… when you feel stuck, on edge, or shut down… or when you’ve done therapy and something still isn’t shifting—I invite you to consider a different approach to healing. Long after stressful events are over, the body and mind may continue to respond as if you are still in that time and place. This “living legacy” can make it difficult to fully enjoy your life. While your body carries your past, it also holds the possibility of your future. I believe in your inherent wholeness and capacity to heal. Somatic therapy includes the body in the healing process. Trauma is not held only in thoughts or emotions—it also lives in the nervous system, in patterns of tension, movement, and protection. By gently working with these patterns through awareness of sensation and nervous system responses, somatic therapy can support greater regulation, integration, and a renewed sense of safety and connection. As an integrative practitioner, my primary modality is Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, a well-regarded, evidence-based model for treating trauma, stress, and relational wounding. I also incorporate Somatic Experiencing, a widely recognized body-based approach to trauma treatment. My relational, somatic approach draws on the wisdom you carry, allowing healing to emerge naturally. My work is informed and enriched by my years of practice in, and lifelong love of, the arts. Finding a therapist who is a good fit is important. I offer free consultations to help you make that decision. Support, relief, and meaningful change are within reach. I look forward to hearing from you. _____________________________ Education: BFA, Texas Christian University MFA, University of Hartford Counseling Education: MA, Counseling, Southwestern College, 2015 Postgraduate Advanced Studies Training Program: The Sky Center of the New Mexico Suicide Intervention Project Specialized Training and Certifications: Sensorimotor Psychotherapy (SP Level 2 student) Somatic Experiencing (SE Advanced student) Integral Somatic Psychotherapy Military Service-Related Training, Star Behavioral Health Providers Program, Center for Deployment Psychology National Certification, Trauma-Focused CBT (TF-CBT) Provider status for Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) Counseling Licensure: National Certified Counselor # 799283 AR Licensed Professional Counselor # P2006025 MT Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor # BBH-LCPC-LIC-69835 NM Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor # CCMH0199311 Professional Memberships: American Counseling Association (ACA) International Association for Resilience and Trauma Counseling (IARTC) United States Association for Body Psychotherapy (USABP) Arkansas Counseling Association _____________________________ STEWART COUNSELING IS NOT AN EMERGENCY SERVICES PROVIDER.
