Svetlana has earned her Master of Arts Degree at the Chicago School of Professional Psychology majoring in Counseling Psychology. Entering the field of counseling was a career change and a realization of a lifelong interest in psychology for her. She strongly believes that a therapist’s help can be life transforming whether you are struggling with a long-standing mental concern or have encountered a distressing situation recently. Oftentimes, when life throws challenges at us, we can bounce back, but sometimes we need someone by our side, who would listen, but not judge; who would be empathetic and curious; who would possibly offer an unexpected perspective or a “bird’s eye view” of the problem; who would acknowledge our strengths and encourage our growth; who would guide through the healing process and equip with skills essential to managing difficult emotions, thoughts, behaviors. Svetlana firmly believes that we are all born with intrinsic value and innate ability for growth and self-actualization, that is why she adheres to Person-Centered approach in therapy, while utilizing CBT, ACT, DBT, AEDP, Internal Family Systems, and Positive Psychology strategies. Svetlana fully invests herself in providing her clients with all of the professional knowledge she has gained through schooling, while working as an intern at a college wellness center, and as a therapist at a private practice. She has experience in helping individual clients from different age groups (children through adults) and families (parenting) struggling with Depression, Anxiety, ADHD, Eating disorders, grief, life transitions, self-esteem concerns, academic stressors, acculturation or cultural difference challenges.
