Introduction

I work with people who are smart, self-aware, and capable, but still struggling. If coping skills, self-help books, podcasts, and “staying positive” haven’t cut it, you’re in the right place. Healing is complicated and perhaps not the goal; understanding oneself through relationship is where we begin. My Approach Therapy with me is collaborative, relational, and rooted in liberation, not symptom suppression. I don’t believe in passive therapy where you vent and nothing changes. I also don’t believe in cold, clinical therapy that disconnects you from your humanity. We build something real together. I specialize in working with people navigating: 1. Boundary challenges 2. High-functioning anxiety + chronic overwhelm 3. Grief, loss, and life transitions 4. Perimenopause + Perinatal + Postpartum Shifts 5. Identity shifts, cultural disconnection, and decolonizing self-healing 6. Trauma held in the body: feeling stuck, shut down, or dysregulated 7. Mixed identity / multicultural / third culture people 8. Folks in nontraditional relationship structures (non-monogamy, polyamory, queer partnerships, co-parenting, chosen family) 9. People deconstructing systems of power in their lives 10. People navigating identity, belonging, and liberation in therapy This is a space where your story, culture, nervous system, and lived experience are honored not pathologized. What It Feels Like to Work Together Expect honesty, warmth, depth, laughter, and accountability. I will not try to “fix” you; I will help you find your way back to yourself. You are the expert of your life. I’m here to offer tools, reflection, nervous system healing, and relational support that actually fits who you are. INVESTMENT IN THERAPY I believe that healing is both personal and collective. Mental health care exists within larger systems that impact access to resources, healthcare, education, housing, and financial stability. Rather than offering a one-size-fits-all fee, Wild Fern Counseling uses a Collective Care & Redistribution Model that recognizes these realities while supporting a sustainable practice. My standard fee reflects the true cost of the business: providing therapy, including ongoing training, consultation, preparation, documentation, taxes and the many hours spent supporting clients outside of the therapy room. FULL COST RATES: Individual Therapy (53 minutes): $180 Relationship Therapy (60 minutes): $200 Collective Care & Redistribution Model: A limited number of sessions are available at alternative rates through a community-based fee structure. Redistribution Tier ($220–275+) For clients with financial abundance, generational wealth, significant disposable income, or other forms of economic privilege who would like to contribute toward broader access to care. Full Cost Tier ($180 Individual / $200 Relationship) Reflects the actual cost of services and supports the sustainability of the practice. Sustain Tier ($150–175) For clients who are financially stable but would benefit from some flexibility. Solidarity Tier ($100–140) For clients experiencing financial strain, caregiving responsibilities, debt, unstable employment, or other barriers that make full-cost therapy difficult. Reparations Tier ($50–90) A limited number of spaces reserved for individuals and communities disproportionately impacted by systemic oppression, intergenerational inequities, discrimination, displacement, or significant financial hardship. I trust clients to determine the rate that best reflects their circumstances. No proof of income is required. We can revisit your fee at any time if your situation changes. WHY I DO NOT ACCEPT INSURANCE Wild Fern Counseling is a private-pay practice. Many insurance companies require therapists to assign a mental health diagnosis, maintain extensive treatment documentation, and justify the medical necessity of ongoing therapy. These requirements can limit privacy and influence the therapeutic process. By remaining out-of-network, I am able to: • Protect your confidentiality to a greater degree • Focus on your goals rather than insurance requirements • Avoid unnecessary diagnoses when clinically inappropriate • Offer care that is relational, individualized, and rooted in long-term healing rather than symptom management alone If you have out-of-network benefits, I am happy to provide a superbill that you may submit to your insurance company for possible reimbursement. About Me I’m Tania Adams, MSW, LICSW, M.Ed. I’m a psychotherapist, visual artist, and educator. I provide in-person eco-therapy in Austin, Texas and virtually throughout Texas & Washington. My work integrates somatic therapy, attachment-focused healing, relational neuroscience, and anti-oppressive practice. My clinical lens is grounded, culturally responsive, trauma-informed, and deeply human. Healing does not happen in isolation. We are shaped in relationship and we heal in relationship. If you are looking for a therapist who is present, honest, and willing to engage deeply, we can explore whether we are a good fit. Nature-Informed Therapy: For many people, being outdoors can create a sense of ease, perspective, and nervous system calm that supports deeper therapeutic work. Eco-Therapy / Nature-informed therapy integrates the restorative benefits of movement, fresh air, and natural surroundings with evidence-based psychotherapy. Research suggests that time in green spaces may help reduce stress, improve mood, support attention, and increase overall well-being. Nature-based interventions have also shown promise for adults experiencing anxiety, depression, and chronic stress. How does it work: Walk-and-Talk Therapy Walk-and-talk therapy is an option for clients who feel more comfortable moving than sitting in a traditional office setting. Sessions take place outdoors through gentle walking at an agreed-upon location, pace, and level of privacy. Many clients find that walking side-by-side can feel more natural and less intense than face-to-face conversation. Movement may also help regulate the body while processing emotions, navigating stress, or exploring difficult life transitions. Walk-and-talk sessions may be especially supportive for those who: - Feel restless, stuck, or anxious in office settings - Process thoughts more clearly while moving - Want to reconnect with themselves through nature - Benefit from body-based approaches to stress and trauma recovery - Prefer a more relaxed and spacious therapeutic environment Emerging research has found that outdoor walk-and-talk therapy may feel more engaging and can offer stress-reducing benefits beyond conventional indoor sessions for some clients. My Approach Nature-informed therapy is grounded in clinical training, trauma-informed care, and a holistic understanding of the mind-body connection. You do not need any special outdoor experience or fitness level to participate. Sessions are tailored to your comfort, goals, and accessibility needs. We may integrate mindfulness, somatic awareness, nervous system regulation skills, or simply allow the natural environment to support reflection and conversation. Important Considerations Outdoor sessions are always optional and may not be appropriate for every client or every concern. We’ll discuss privacy, weather, accessibility, location, and therapeutic fit together before beginning. A Gentler Way to Heal Sometimes healing happens through words. Sometimes it happens through movement, breath, sunlight, and remembering that you are part of something larger.
