Dr. Tanya Brown is a counselor educator and mental health professional passionate about supporting individuals through life’s challenges with empathy, authenticity, and compassion. Based in South Dakota, she is committed to increasing access to quality mental health services, including support for individuals in rural communities. Dr. Brown works with children, adolescents, and adults experiencing a broad range of concerns, including trauma, anxiety, depression, stress, relationship concerns, life transitions, and personal growth. Her counseling approach is collaborative, compassionate, culturally responsive, and tailored to each client’s unique needs and experiences. Dr. Brown primarily utilizes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Person-Centered Therapy, while integrating evidence-based and trauma-informed practices to support healing, resilience, and lasting change. She believes healing happens through meaningful connection, self-awareness, and developing practical tools that empower clients both inside and outside of counseling sessions. She is dedicated to creating a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental environment where clients feel heard, valued, and empowered throughout their counseling journey.
