Introduction

Growing up with horses, I learned to understand the humbling and empowering nature of authentic connection; finding it at the intersection of my young, bull-headed attitude and half ton animals that loved to expose my vulnerabilities. That shared, vulnerable relationship with horses, however, never ceased to bring peace in me during the challenging chapters of my life, fostering my belief in the healing power of such a grounded connection. Driving my pursuit to a career in the 'helping field', my desire to share that same connection with others reminds me of my dad's advice when I was very young: "if you do nothing else each day, at the very least make at least one person smile." Now, decades later as a licensed clinician, I often find myself saying "therapy is just one human sharing space and taking the time to listen to another human." Simple, honest, and connected work, rooted in me since I was a little girl. While serving as an active duty LCSW in the U.S. Army, I quickly recognized how resilient, but vulnerable most people are, no matter how hard of an exterior was built. No title, rank, age, race, gender, sex, profession, spiritual belief system, etc is immune to the stressors of life that are meant to break us. It's the brokenness and search for healing that shows up differently on everyone, only exposing slivers of ourselves when we feel safe enough to do so. Unbridled Roots Embodied Therapy is my life's work- a space born from God's blessing and my lifelong connection to both healing and horses. Rooted in trauma-informed care and guided by compassion and faith, my practice integrates authentic connection with somatic approaches, embodied psychotherapy, and horse guided experiences to help clients reconnect, heal, and achieve holistic attunement in a safe and grounded way. I have extensive training in a variety of trauma-focused psychotherapies, and am in the process of becoming certified in integrative somatic therapies, along with their equine-assisted counterparts. Likewise, I'm completing my hours to become a registered trauma-focused yoga instructor. No matter what road has led you to this moment today, I am so happy you're here and that our paths have crossed. You are brave, resilient, wise, and worthy of living in peace and serenity. I'd be honored to walk this journey alongside you. With loving kindness, -Tarah Mission: To support individuals through their healing journeys with integrative trauma-informed psychotherapies, somatic healing, and equine connection experiences that foster emotional safety, nervous system regulation, embodiment, and empowered living. Vision: To create an immersive, therapeutic space where individuals feel safe to reconnect to themselves, heal deeply, and live from a grounded, embodied, and empowered place. Unbridled Roots envisions a world where healing is approached with compassion, authenticity, and connection to body, mind, soul, and nature.
